As of right now, Carmelo Anthony is under contract with the New York Knicks and that may ultimately continue to be the case heading into the 2014-15 NBA season.

Although all indications appear to have Anthony returning to the Knicks and not opting out of his deal, the superstar forward is creating a lot of buzz around the league about his potential free agency status. Along with the Los Angeles Lakers possibly interested in his services, the Chicago Bulls are also a team that will attempt to sign him this summer if he becomes available.

Reportedly, Bulls center Joakim Noah couldn’t resist the temptation to recruit Anthony to Chicago during All-Star Weekend last month. The veteran center also expressed his opinion that Chicago is the better option over Los Angeles saying the following to Anthony in his pitch according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard:

“Look, you can go to Los Angeles. But if you want to win a ring, if you want your legacy to be about winning, come to Chicago.”

Apparently, the Bulls will have a dog in the fight if Anthony becomes a free agent with the veteran forward saying the following via Broussard:

Melo, I’m told, said, “Look, I’ve been watching you guys. I admire how hard you play. I admire how hungry you are. Oh, and by the way, my son’s favorite player: Derrick Rose.”

It’ll be interesting to see how it all goes down this summer with quite a few big-name players potentially becoming free agents. Although Anthony, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all appear to be staying put, anything can happen between now and July.

With that being said, one or more of these perennial All-Stars might be headed elsewhere with Chicago and Los Angeles being potential destinations.
