After one season back with the Los Angeles Lakers, Jordan Farmar hit the free agent market once again last summer. Even though Farmar wanted to continue wearing purple and gold, the veteran point guard wasn’t willing to wait for Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James to make their decisions in free agency.

On July 7, only a few days after free agency in the NBA got underway, Farmar signed a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. Although it seemed like a good fit for Farmar with the two-time NBA champion playing behind Chris Paul, things haven’t worked out as planned and now it appears he could be headed elsewhere.

According to Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee, Farmar might be a trade target for the Sacramento Kings:

Ironically enough, the Kings would exchange one former Laker for another in this deal. Ramon Sessions was acquired by the Lakers back in March of 2012 to help bolster the backcourt. Derek Fisher was sent packing to the Houston Rockets for Jordan Hill after the Sessions deal which involved Luke Walton heading to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Sacramento has been rumored to be interested in Deron Williams of the Brooklyn Nets. Unfortunately for the Kings, the Nets were unwilling to part with Mason Plumlee in the deal which basically ended trade talks between the two teams.

It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for the Kings as they try and improve their roster for the second half of the 2014-15 NBA season. Farmar would give them a veteran presence off the bench with the championship experience, but it probably won’t be enough to give them the boost needed to make the playoffs in a highly competitive Western Conference.
