The NBA trade deadline is less than two months away. Teams around the league will explore trade scenarios over the next few weeks to determine whether to make a move or stand pat come Feb. 23. One team that might be active before the trade deadline is the Phoenix Suns with journeyman Brandon Knight potentially headed elsewhere.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Sacramento Kings have expressed interest in Knight leading all the way back to last summer:

“It’s hard to read Sacramento. Sacramento talks a lot, but then never does anything, so Sacramento’s very frustrating to people,” Windhorst said. “I know that Sacramento has been talking to Phoenix about Brandon Knight since the summer. Will that ultimately get done? I don’t know, but it’s out there.”

Despite being a talented player, Knight has found it difficult to stay with an NBA squad for longer than two seasons. Knight started his professional career with the Detroit Pistons in 2011 and was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in July of 2013 along with Khris Middleton and Viacheslav Kravtsov in exchange for Brandon Jennings.

In Feb. of 2015, Knight was on the move yet again with the Bucks trading him to the Suns. Now Knight plays in a somewhat crowded backcourt in Phoenix sharing time with Eric Bledsoe and up-and-comer Devin Booker.

The Kings could be looking for some long-term security at the point guard position with the NBA trade deadline drawing near. Knight would definitely be a solid option for Sacramento if they are willing to make a move before Feb. 23 and can agree upon a deal with the Suns.
