The schedule for the 2014-15 NBA season is set to be released with a one hour special on NBATV on Wednesday, August 13 according to Turner Sports PR:

The schedule for the upcoming season has been kept under wraps for the most part with only the Christmas Day games starting to leak out recently. Not until yesterday was it clear which team the Lakers would be facing on December 25.

The Lakers will uncharacteristically go on the road on Christmas Day to take on Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. Facing the Bulls was expected with Pau Gasol leaving Los Angeles in favor of Chicago in free agency this summer.

Three other Christmas Day matchups have also been leaked with the Los Angeles Clippers facing the Golden State Warriors in the only game in California on December 25. The Miami Heat will try to get the best of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers while John Wall attempts to lead the Washington Wizards over the new-look New York Knicks in the two Eastern Conference showdowns thus far.

As for other NBA matchups leaked, the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs will take on LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers in the first game of the season. Also, not all that surprising with LeBron’s decision to return to Cleveland being the biggest move of the summer and the Spurs crushing the two-time NBA champion hopes of winning a third title in the NBA Finals back in June.

For the Lakers, the most anticipated matchups will likely be against the Houston Rockets, Clippers, Knicks and Bulls. There will be storylines galore this season with Kobe Bryant returning to the floor after suffering consecutive season-ending injuries.

Dwight Howard going up against Kobe for the first time since leaving Los Angeles could be atop the list of anticipated showdowns for the Lakers. Gasol returning to the Staples Center and the Lakers facing the Phil Jackson’s Knicks in New York will also be dates circled on the calendars of many Laker fans.
