The trade rumors surrounding Kevin Love have been floating around the NBA over the past couple of months with the consensus being that the Minnesota Timberwolves will trade their superstar sooner rather than later.

Love has made it clear that he will not sign a contract extension with the Timberwolves and as a result will likely be traded as some point between now and the NBA trade deadline next season.

One potential suitor for Love is the Cleveland Cavaliers after LeBron James agreed to return to the team in free agency. According to ESPN, Love would commit long-term to the Cavs:

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is “intrigued” by the idea of being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and would commit long term to the team, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein.

The Cavs are trying to build a title contender around LeBron and Love could be the final piece to the championship puzzle in Cleveland. The real question heading into trade talks involving the star forward is whether Cleveland would give up Andrew Wiggins in the deal.

With LeBron not mentioning Wiggins or Anthony Bennett in his Sports Illustrated essay, the writing might already be on the wall in Cleveland. It’d be safe to assume that a potential Love trade was part of the pitch to LeBron to bring him back to Cleveland, but it remains to be seen if a deal can get done even if Love is willing to sign an extension with the team.
