Markelle Fultz has been the talk of the town recently as the Philadelphia 76ers recently agreed to trade up to the first overall selection in the NBA Draft, presumably to take him. The Los Angeles Lakers were also reportedly interested in moving up for him as Magic Johnson loved him following his workout in L.A.

But before he had teams fighting for the chance to make him the top pick in this week’s NBA Draft, Fultz actually appeared in a video series by Samsung entitled, The Journey.

In the video Fultz sat down with NBA Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady to discuss his goals for his rookie season and the support of his mother before facing off in a friendly 1-on-1 contest.

Fultz was not shy about his very high goals for himself even as a rookie. He told McGrady that he not only wants to win Rookie of the Year, but he wants to win league MVP. Players like Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James may have something to say about that last goal, but there is something to be said for a player setting his goals high.

Fultz and McGrady also traded stories about their mothers supporting them and always hearing their voice in the stands.

Of course things got serious when it was time for the game to start and this one went down to the last point.

By all accounts Fultz has all the makings of a future star in this league and he has the mindset necessary to be successful in the NBA. Likely joining an exciting core of players in Philadelphia and getting to play alongside Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Dario Saric should only make him even better.
