Pau Gasol Will Participate In His 900th Career NBA Game Vs. Thunder

Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol will hit a milestone with the team’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday.

Gasol will be participating in his 900th career NBA game in his 13th season. It will be his 424th game with the Lakers and will tie him for 206th place in NBA history for games played. Gasol should break the top 200 by the end of the season.

This season, the Spaniard has played in 54 games for the Lakers and is averaging 17.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. It is his seventh season with the team and he has been a part of three NBA Finals and two NBA championships. Before the Lakers, Gasol spent seven seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, being named an All-Star once and winning the Rookie of the Year in the 2001-2002 season. He joined the Lakers in the 2007-2008 season along with a second-round draft pick in exchange for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, the rights to his younger brother Marc Gasol and two first-round draft picks.

Gasol has also been a member of the Spanish national team, winning two silver medals in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. The 33-year-old is a four-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA third team and an All-NBA second team. It is unknown whether Gasol will return to the Lakers next season, but if not, he will still have reached this milestone with the team.
