Phil Jackson1When the Lakers decided to part ways with Mike Brown last season, they were in the verge of bringing back Phil Jackson for a third term in Los Angeles. However, the organization decided to go with Mike D’Antoni in the 11th hour.

The team struggled with D’Antoni taking the reigns — and likely would have struggled no matter who was brought in — and was met with “We Want Phil” chants for much of the season. Despite Lakers fans wanting Phil to return, they likely won’t ever get their wish, according to the Williston Herald.

On Friday afternoon, Jackson met with area media members to discuss a wide range of topics.

During the press conference, Jackson made it clear he has no intentions of returning to coach.

“I have no intention of coaching,” he said. “I am still recovering from multiple surgeries.”

Jackson was in North Dakota to attend his 50th high school reunion and to speak at the banquet for the 13-year-old Babe Ruth Championship.

Jackson has said several times that this he has no intention on returning to coach in any capacity, but this latest quote comes on the heels of his fiancé Jeanie Buss saying that she doesn’t think that we’ve seen Jackson coach his last game.

While it’s impossible to predict the future (we thought Jackson was done coaching before he came back to win two more titles with the Lakers), but at this point, it looks like the Lakers — or any team for that matter — will see Jackson on the sidelines in the future.
