With the Lakers set to take on the Warriors tonight, it is going to be interesting to see whether or not Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol can continue their dominant play as of late.

Both bigs dominated against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night combining for 43 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists, and five blocks. With the playoffs virtually on the line, it is going to be key that one or both of the bigs produce at a high level.

Today, we polled Lakers Nation and asked which big man they felt was more important in contributing to the Lakers success. Here are the results:

In the poll, 58 percent believed that Dwight Howard is more important to the Lakers success because he is the primary defensive presence of the Lakers. Dwight Howard has been playing phenomenal as of late by recording a double-double in 15 of his last 18 games.

The 42 percent that voted in favor of Pau obviously feel that his recent stretch of good basketball could have been the key factor in helping the Lakers make this late push at the end of the season. Gasol is averaging 18 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists over his last five games, and has continued to get his conditioning up to par after suffering multiple nagging injuries.

Surely if the Lakers make the playoffs, the combined production of both big men is going to be key in whether or not they advance past the first round.
