Report: Steve Nash Looking Excellent In Scrimmages

The Lakers success this season will hinge on a number of different things. The majority of the focus has been on the return of Kobe Bryant who missed all but six games last season due to injury. But another veteran could play a major role this season as well.

According to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, point guard Steve Nash has been looking great in scrimmages this off-season:

A healthy Nash would change a lot of things for the Lakers this season. Very few are counting on Nash, and rightfully so, as Nash has been injured for the better part of two seasons with the Lakers.

The last time Nash was healthy, in 2012, he averaged over 12 points and 10 assists while shooting 53 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range. Numbers similar to that would be excellent for the Lakers who have struggled with point guard production in recent years.

New head coach Byron Scott said he is unsure if Nash will start, but whether it is him or Jeremy Lin starting, his shooting and playmaking would be welcome additions to a Lakers team that lacks guys who can create for others.

Nash has one year left in his Hall of Fame career. A healthy, productive season with the Lakers would be a fitting end, and could be the difference in pushing this team to a playoff berth.
