A non-displaced fibular fracture won’t be inhibiting Steve Nash from traveling with the team to Utah for tonight’s game. As Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News reports, Nash made the trip with the team and will be reevaluated after Saturday.

At 38 years old, Steve Nash managed to stay healthy during the Lakers offseason, but in the Lakers loss to the Trailblazers last week, Nash collided with Portland’s Damian Lilliard and suffered a contusion in his lower left leg. As to be expected, the all star point guard is showing signs of frustration, as reported by Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times.

Steve Blake has been starting in place of Nash, and has averaged seven points and four assists in the past two games. It was Blake’s effort on the defensive end (five steals) that was most impressive in the Lakers first win of the season against the Detroit Pistons Sunday night.

When talking about starting in place of Steve Nash in the Lakers new offense after practice on Monday, Blake exuded confidence.

“I don’t really have to do anything too difficult to be successful.”

Blake will need to continue that confidence as the Lakers look for just their second win against the Utah Jazz tonight. The Lakers have an all-time record of 100-58 against the Jazz, but a lesser impressive record (38-41) on the road.
