Sports Spectacular recently held its 30th annual awards show featuring the elite of the sports world, benefiting the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and specifically their dedication to linking world-class athletes and innovative medical research to improve everyday lives. This year’s event honored Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Kings.

Former Lakers like Jamaal Wilkes, Robert Horry, John Salley, and Cedric Ceballos were in attendance, as well as current Laker Jordan Clarkson. Check out our video from the red carpet event, which has Brian Scalabrine hilariously explaining why his “White Mamba” nickname (of course, in comparison to Kobe Bryant as the “Black Mamba”) is the “perfect” nickname.

“The Black Mamba, he’s out there doing work. He’s the world’s deadliest snake. But not me, the White Mamba sits back and waits, sits on the bench and watches and he observes for almost around 47 minutes and 20 seconds and in those last 40 seconds the White Mamba strikes and it may not be the deadliest strike like the Black Mamba, but it is a strike, nonetheless.”

The only thing better than reading Scalabrine’s answer is watching his theatrics and enthusiasm for the nickname in the video above!

In the past 30 years, Sports Spectacular has raised over 25 million dollars for the important work they’re doing at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. To see how you can get involved, head to sportsspectacular.com.
