Steve NashSteve Nash reaches a milestone that only four other players in NBA history have done. Nash has passed for 10,000 assists. That’s quite a lot of helpers. And as mentioned, he is the fifth player to reach that plateau.

Going into their game against the Houston Rockets Tuesday night, he was five dimes short of 10,000. The fifth assist occurred when he passed it to Antawn Jamison for a lay-up near the end of the second quarter.

As far as other assist milestones are concerned, he is likely to pass legendary Laker Magic Johnson for fourth place for most assists in an NBA career. Johnson has 10,141 total assists. Above Johnson is Mark Jackson. Jackson gave out 10,334 assists. If Nash stays healthy throughout the season, he has a chance to pass Jackson late in the season. Second place belongs to Jason Kidd, who is at 11,969 and counting as he is still playing for the New York Knicks. John Stockton is in an island all by himself when it comes to assists; he has a whopping 15,806 assists to his name. I highly doubt Nash (OR Kidd) will catch Stockton at this point.

Congratulations to Steve Nash for getting 10,000 assists for his career!
