For the better part of the past year much has been made about LeBron James and Paul George becoming free agents this summer. There’s been endless speculation on where both will ultimately land, and the Los Angeles Lakers have often been mentioned as a potential landing spot.

While that’s more of a pipe dream with respect to James, George is perceived as a legitimate candidate to become the first All-Star to sign with the Lakers since Kobe Bryant retired. After all, George nearly forced his way to Los Angeles via trade last summer.

He instead found himself spending the season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, which George said he thoroughly enjoyed.

When asked about reaching the open market for the first time in his career, George admitted to being anxious over the prospect, via The Oklahoman:

“Nervous. I’m not really sure what to expect. I’m not even at that point yet.”

George began to face questions about free agency during his time with the Pacers, and that carried into his time with the Thunder. Particularly when they faced the Lakers at Staples Center, and George was showered with cheers.

While acknowledging it was treatment he appreciated, George has maintained all options are on the table come July 1.
