With the Los Angeles Lakers failing to make the NBA Playoffs for a second consecutive season, it’s been hard for fans of the franchise to show much interest in the 2015 NBA playoffs.

This past 2014-2015 NBA season marked only the seventh time in franchise history the team failed to make the playoffs, something most Lakers fans are not accustomed to seeing. Many big-name celebrities who have followed the Lakers throughout the years have also lost a sense of interest in the playoffs since the team failed to contend once again for the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Legendary actor and die-hard Lakers fan Jack Nicholson, recently said he had no interest talking about the playoffs since he’s in “off-season” mode according to TMZ.

When asked by a TMZ reporter whether or not he’d support the Los Angeles Clippers, the current “winning” side of Los Angeles, Nicholson didn’t have much to say about the third-seeded team currently matched-up against the reigning champions, San Antonio Spurs:

“I never talk about basketball in the off-season. It’s too much.”

He then chose not to comment when asked about his thoughts on Clippers’ owner Steve Ballmer using the Lakers locker room at Staples Center as an owner’s lounge during the postseason.

Nicholson, like many fans, has lost interest in basketball since the Lakers season ended on April 15th. It can’t be too surprising, however, seeing that the Lakers have one of the biggest fan bases in all of sports; one which many fans take very seriously, including Nicholson.

Here in Los Angeles, the Lakers expectations remain the same – win a championship or it’s a failed season. That being said, the past two seasons have been seasons to forget as the Lakers failed to make the playoffs once again and ended the 2014-2015 season with a .256 winning percentage, the lowest in franchise history.

As the Lakers now head into arguably the most important off-season in team history, it will be interesting to see what occurs in the 2015 NBA Draft with a protected top-five pick that can be the spark of bringing the organization back to playoff contention.

However, as for now, Nicholson and many other Lakers fan are not interested in the Lakers-less playoffs and are waiting to see what the future of the franchise holds with the draft and free agency coming up soon.
