Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant returned to practice Saturday after being out since April with a torn Achilles. After the 114-99 Lakers win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, Lakers forward Jordan Hill who had a career-high night, said he was surprised by how hard Bryant was able to push himself in practice.

“He looked real good. He was going real hard. I thought he wasn’t going to be able to go that hard but he was really pushing it. And, I know he’s not ready yet but he’s coming along and he should be ready pretty soon.”

Hill thinks Bryant will be ready to be back on the floor pretty soon, but doesn’t expect his role to change at all. The Lakers big man said he expects his role to be the same, and will be giving the same amount of energy and aggressiveness every night. There is still no timetable for Bryant’s return, but him being back on the practice floor is a positive indication that he’ll be back in uniform soon. Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni recently said he didn’t think Bryant would be back before Thanksgiving.

Bryant won’t be on the practice floor tomorrow, as the Lakers have the day off from practice. The Lakers will have plenty of time to rest up before matching up with the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
