During the 2007-08 season, the Lakers took part in a mid-season trade that would land them Pau Gasol. With the move, the Lakers gave Kobe Bryant the help he desperately needed to win another title. The Lakers finished the season with the West’s best record and breezed through the playoffs to meet the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.

After winning the first two games of the series, the Lakers fell in Game 3, but responded with another victory in Game 4. The Lakers hoped to close out the series at Staples, and Kobe Bryant made sure the Lakers finished off the Spurs.

The Spurs took an early 17 point lead in the game and appeared to survive elimination for at least another game. However, Bryant scored 17 in the fourth quarter to help cap off a Laker rally. He finished with 39 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists as the Lakers won 100-92 and returned to the NBA Finals.
