The Lakers defense struggled during the first half as the Kings scored 64 points and took a 15 lead after two quarters. After the break, the Lakers were able to rally and make the game competitive during the second half. The Lakers would grab the lead with 5:50 left in the fourth quarter following a Kobe Bryant 14-foot fade away. An Omri Caspi three would have the Lakers playing from behind in the final minute.

The Kings had a chance to ice the game when Ime Udoka stepped up to the free-throw line with four seconds left in the game. Udoka missed both his chances and the Lakers would inbound the ball down by two points. Bryant would find himself with the ball open near the sideline and drained the three as time expired to give the Lakers a victory.
