The Los Angeles Lakers introduced Croatian center Ivica Zubac, who they acquired with the 32nd pick in the draft, on Tuesday afternoon. Zubac was absolutely elated to be at the practice facility after growing up a huge Lakers fan. In an interview with LakersNation.com, the 7’1″ 19-year old talks about how he sees his game fitting into new head coach Luke Walton‘s system, especially as an old-school back-to-the-basket center.
“I can help. I know he will be looking for us to pass and share the ball. I know how to pass and I know how to play. I understand the game very well. And, I think I have a big basketball IQ, so I think I can fit in that style of game with my passing and I can run, so I think there’s not going to be a problem,” Zubac said about fitting into Walton’s system.
Born in Bosnia, but a naturalized Croatian, Zubac would stay up to the wee hours of the morning to watch Lakers games. He’s also been studying a certain NBA player on YouTube lately and trying to steal his moves.
