The Los Angeles Lakers dropped their record to just 5-16 after a double-digit loss to the New Orleans Pelicans at Staples Center on Sunday night. Nick Young continued with his role off the bench, despite Byron Scott making starting lineup changes that included sending Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer to the bench.

The Lakers shot just 40 percent from the field in their loss and 26.3 percent from three-point range. Lacking what seemed like the motivation to compete, the Lakers ultimately received boos from the fans at Staples Center.

After the game, Lakers guard Nick Young said he heard the boos from the fans, and thought they were justified for the way in which the Lakers were playing on the court.

It ain’t fun getting booed. That’s one thing I don’t like. Hopefully each one of us dig inside and come out Tuesday ready to play. It was well-deserved. We [were] playing like crap out there.” Young continued, “I don’t like this. I want to be a part of a good Lakers season. They (fans) just want the best for us.”

The Lakers are off to their worst start in franchise history and take on a 10-10 Sacramento Kings team at Staples Center on Tuesday. After that, the Lakers head back on a three-game roadtrip, facing the San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers. With only two victories at Staples Center, the Lakers have struggled for wins at home this season.
