It’s becoming a trend as past and current Lakers centers are losing shooting contests this off-season to amateurs.
After Dwight Howard recently lost a free-throw shooting contest to an Arizona housewife, Shaquille O’Neal appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to challenge the YouTube basketball trick-shot sensation, 2-year-old Titus, in a shooting contest. Here is the video, courtesy of Jimmy Kimmel Live:
Each player was shooting at their respective heights and were given thirty seconds to make as many shots as possible. It didn’t end well for the future Hall-of-Famer O’Neal as he made zero shots while the YouTube sensation made an impressive eight shots. Shaq, however, was a good sport about the loss and gave his size 22 shoe to the 2-year-old infant.

It’s no surprise that Shaquille O’Neal lost a free throw shooting contest to an infant or any human-being for that matter. In his 18-year career, O’Neal was a 52.7 percent free throw shooter and missed 5,317 shots from the free throw line. Throughout his career, O’Neal was defiant against improving his shooting but vowed to make his free throws “when they count.” He was surprisingly successful for the most part when teams decided to employ Hack-a-Shaq, the only strategy that could have possibly slowed down his dominance.
In his eight-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, Shaquille O’Neal averaged 27.0 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists as he led the Lakers to three straight championships from 2000-2002. His No. 34 jersey was retired this past season on April 3 in a regular season game against the Dallas Mavericks.
