VIDEO/PHOTOS: Lakers Jordan Hill Teams Up With Race For The Cure

For the third consecutive year, Los Angeles Lakers Jordan Hill joined thousands in support of breast cancer awareness, by teaming up with Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County for the 2015 Komen LA County’s Race for the Cure.

I lost my mom to it (breast cancer) at the age of three,” Hill said at the race this past weekend. “I had a couple scares dealing with my sister, my step mother, it’s a big part of my life, so I just want to come out here and keep supporting.”

It was the 19th year of the event, which took place at Dodger Stadium this past Saturday. For the second consecutive year, Hill’s teammate Ryan Kelly also came out in support of Team Hill and breast cancer awareness.

I want to support my teammate first and foremost, but I think most people in our world are touched by breast cancer and anything my wife and I can do to help, we’re happy to support,” Kelly said this past Saturday.

Hill hopes his support of Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County can help open a dialogue among minority women about breast health and empower them to make informed choices about their health and welfare. His goal is to support the mission for women to “RUN FOR IT, NOT FROM IT!”

Lot of moms, aunts, sisters, grandmothers are fighting this disease. They’re not fighting it alone. We’re all dealing with it and I just want to go out there and show support that I’m still here for them.”
