The Lakers practiced Thursday before hopping on a plane to Salt Lake City, in preparation for Friday night’s game against the Utah Jazz. The Lakers received a bit of bad news after doctors decided that Pau Gasol shouldn’t travel with the team due to an upper-respiratory infection. Ryan Kelly was a hot topic of conversation after he played the biggest minutes of his career against the Miami Heat in the fourth quarter on Christmas Day. Kelly’s brief and unsuccessful stint guarding LeBron James was fresh on everyone’s mind, but the Lakers rookie was in good spirits about it.
