Lakers News: Julius Randle Says He ‘Should Be Ready For Summer League’

Julius Randle

With the Los Angeles Lakers out of playoff contention, head coach Byron Scott has been giving the young prospects an opportunity to play major minutes. During this process, Jordan Clarkson has played well as the team’s starting point guard, but this would have been a grand opportunity for Julius Randle to showcase his skillset as well.

After suffering a season-ending leg injury, Randle is currently rehabbing and shares that he should be ready for summer league in an interview with Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding:

“With how my body is reacting and how I feel,” he said, “I definitely feel like I should be ready for summer league.”

With Randle missing the entire 2014-15 NBA season except for the opener against the Houston Rockets, playing in summer league will provide him an opportunity to learn how his game ultimately translates to the NBA-level. During his time rehabbing his leg, Randle has become a student of the game and it will be interesting to see how he develops.

In six preseason games for the Lakers, Randle averaged 6.8 points and 4.8 rebounds in limited minutes while showing his strong ball handling ability for a power forward. While the Lakers will look to improve their roster this upcoming off-season, Randle is preparing for Kobe Bryant to pass the torch to him.
