Throughout Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant’s NBA career he was known as one of the hardest workers in the history of the game. There have been countless anecdotes from trainers and coaches about his work ethic, about him showing up at the gym for an intense workout early in the morning and then carrying that intensity all throughout the day.

Bryant is now retired though, and has began a new career in storytelling, so he may not have quite as much time to workout and stay in shape.

That became apparent on Tuesday afternoon, when Bryant posted a photo of himself looking a bit out of shape. He vowed to get back in shape in the next 30 days in the picture he later deleted, via Bleacher Report:

Bryant replaced the photo with an all black one captioned “Mamba mode #blackout”:

Mamba mode #blackout

One thing that has become apparent with Bryant over the years is that if he says he is going to do something, he does it, so expect another photo of him in the next month with him looking back in shape.

While he may not have a reason to get back in shape other than for his own health, fellow former All-Star Paul Pierce recently said that he is recruiting Bryant to play with him in Ice Cube’s Big3 League. While it is unlikely that Bryant would commit to playing in the league, it could be an underlying reason for him wanting to get back in shape.
