During the off-season for the Lakers, the team has been adamant to change the franchise into a title contending team once again. Over the week, the Lakers were in the rumor mill to acquire a franchise player from another team. Also, with the lottery picks set for the 2014 NBA Draft, the Lakers have officially started their coaching search.

Minnesota Timberwolves’ forward Kevin Love has garnered interest from a number of teams due to speculation that he will not re-sign with the team. Within the past few days, the Lakers have been rumored to make a “monster push” for Love.

On Tuesday, the Lakers fell one spot short and received the seventh overall pick. Knowing what pick they will receive, general manger Mitch Kupchak expects their position in the draft to have value.

Finally, in the aftermath of the lottery, the Lakers have officially started their search for the vacant head coaching position. With the team already interviewing Mike Dunleavy and Byron Scott, Mitch Kupchak does not expect to hire a new coach in the next two to three weeks.
