2015-16 Lakers Training Camp Recap: Day 6

The Los Angeles Lakers piled up a couple more injuries on their sixth day of practice during training camp. Guard Anthony Brown injured his shoulder during practice after being hit with a screen by one of the Laker bigs, and after a negative MRI is listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game. Jabari Brown also injured his right hand during practice, but the X-Ray came back negative and he is also listed as questionable.

Larry Nance, Jr. (back spasms) participated in all of practice on Monday and is expected to be available for Tuesday’s game. Marcelo Huertas who is nursing a hamstring injury will actually be flying to Vancouver to complete his immigration documents and will not be available for Tuesday’s game.

Lakers head coach Byron Scott expects both Metta World Peace and Michael Frazier II, who did not play in Sunday night’s matchup, to play Tuesday.

After practice, Scott discussed which performances he was most impressed by in the Lakers preseason opener. Of the reserves, Scott mentioned Lou Williams, Ryan Kelly and Nick Young. Of the bigs, Scott was most impressed with Roy Hibbert.

“Out of all our bigs, I thought Roy played the best. I thought he was the most active, he was the most physical, the most aggressive that we had.”

The Lakers were clearly worn down after a tough week of training camp, but D’Angelo Russell said it will all be worth it at the end of the season.

“When you start to have second thoughts on why, remember it’s a long season. We’re looking forward to trying to make the playoffs, so if we make that, we’ll be prepared for it.”

Russell said he was not hindered by his bone bruise during last night’s game or today’s practice and will once again, be ready for Tuesday’s game against the Utah Jazz.
