The Los Angeles Lakers don’t have much in the way of young players with potential on the roster this season, especially with first-round pick Julius Randle being lost for the season. One player who could have a bright future is the team’s second-round pick, Jordan Clarkson.

Clarkson has played sporadically this season, but has shown signs of potential as he learns the nuances of the NBA game. Though veteran point guard Steve Nash isn’t around the team, Clarkson still texts him from time to time according to Bill Oram of the Orange County Register:

According to the Los Angeles Daily News’ Mark Medina, Clarkson said he wishes Nash were around the team more, but understands why he isn’t:

Someone like Nash would be the perfect teacher for Clarkson. More of a combo guard than a true point at this stage point, picking the brain of a future Hall of Famer is an ideal situation for someone this early in his career.

Even still, Clarkson looks like someone who could be a contributor for the Lakers in the future and any chance he can get to improve on the court should be taken advantage of. The fact that he is actively seeking out advice from Nash is a good sign of his drive and determination to fulfill his vast potential.
