During a Q&A session with Lakers fans, Kobe was asked what current player he would start his team with and responded with James Harden of the Houston Rockets:

“I’d go with James Harden. James Harden drinks Body Armor, so that’s the team I started with.”

After being traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2013, Harden has emerged as one of the best players in the league. With Kobe praising Harden through the years, the Rockets shooting guard is an MVP candidate this season as he is averaging 27.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists.

With the Lakers on pace to miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season, it will be interesting to see who the Lakers bring in via the NBA Draft and free agency. While Kobe has denied that he will be retiring next season, the Lakers are currently looking for their next superstar to build the team around.
