Lakers News: L.A. Officially Signs Brandon Bass In NBA Free Agency

Heading into free agency, the Los Angeles Lakers had high hopes of landing an All-Star frontcourt player. With players remaining with their teams or signing elsewhere, general manager Mitch Kupchak and company moved on to Plan B.

After signing Lou Williams, the Lakers announced the signing of Brandon Bass:

Bass is an excellent addition for the team. He is capable of starting or coming off the bench, provides excellent energy as a power forward, and is one of the more reliable mid-range shooters, shooting over 45 percent from 16-23 feet for his career.

He has spent the last four years of his career with the Celtics, averaging 10.6 points and 5.5 rebounds on 48.9 percent from the field during his time with the Lakers’ hated rivals. He has also been very healthy over the last few years, missing only one game in the last three seasons. Considering the Lakers’ injury issues the last few seasons, just having players stay on the court is an absolute necessity.

Even though the Lakers failed to land their big targets, the front office has done a solid job of putting together a respectable roster this summer.
