With so many young players on the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster there is always a question as to how much they are improving and developing. The first place to get a look at that is Summer League.

The Lakers will be taking part in the Las Vegas Summer League this year which starts on July 7 and ends July 17. The Lakers’ schedule for the event was recently released with Mark Medina of the LA Daily News providing the details:

The Lakers will kick off their slate on Friday night against the crosstown rival Clippers. They will then play again the next night against another big rival, the Boston Celtics. They will then finish off their games on Monday when they play the Sacramento Kings.

After every team plays their three games, everyone is ranked and seeded and the Summer League playoffs get started on Wednesday. Last year the Lakers won all three of their games, but were then upset in their first playoff game by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

This summer the Lakers will once again be one of the teams to watch as both of last year’s draft picks, Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac, are expected to play with Zubac declaring that they will dominate the competition.

In addition, late-season call-up David Nwaba will also suit up as will the Lakers’ draft picks from this season, which means the first look at potentially Lonzo Ball, Josh Jackson, or whoever the Lakers wind up selecting.

The games themselves may not mean much as far as the big picture is concerned, but Summer League is always a great place to get a look at the future and for the Lakers that is extremely important.
