NBA All-Star Weekend is in full swing in Los Angeles and as is usually the case, there is just as much going on off the court as there is on it. Events and parties are thrown everywhere, which gives plenty of time for legends to come together, much like former Los Angeles Lakers teammates Michael Cooper and Norm Nixon.

Cooper and Nixon played together for five seasons during the Showtime era, winning two championships in the early 1980s. These days the two are teaming together for something completely different, karaoke.

Clippers super fan ‘Clipper Darrell’ captured Cooper and Nixon performing Ed Sheeran’s popular hit ‘Shape of You’ at the Celebrity Sweat Yacht party:

Nixon does a pretty admirable job, not just on the main chorus that everyone knows, but also on the main verse. It may stand to reason he plays the song in the car pretty regularly and engages in some car karaoke of his own.

Cooper doesn’t provide much in the form of singing, but does help to get some crowd involvement and looked as if he was just about to get started on some dance moves before the video cut out. Considering what it looked like Cooper was about to do, the video ending was probably best for the children.

This is what All-Star Weekend is really all about. It gives NBA players, past and present, a chance to connect and have some fun. While that also happens during the NBA Finals, it’s all business during that time. Right now it’s all about fun, and Cooper and Nixon were clearly having plenty.
