After coming off of an impeccable defeat against the Miami Heat in 2020, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking for opportunities to get back on that high horse and make their name stand out in the organization. Looking forward to stand-out Lakers first round picks in the NBA draft is one way to prepare and get excited about the game-winning potential for the Lakers, but they don’t have an available first-rounder until 2023.

That didn’t stop the Lakers from getting involved in the 2022 NBA Draft as they were able to purchase the 35th overall pick from the Orlando Magic. They would use that pick to select guard Max Christie from Michigan State.

The Lakers’ original pick turned out to be 8th overall but was sent to the New Orleans Pelicans as part of the Anthony Davis trade who used it to take guard Dyson Daniels from the G-League Ignite. The Lakers’ original second round pick was dealt to the Washington Wizards along with Moritz Wagner in 2019. That selection at 38th overall would ultimately land with the San Antonio Spurs who used it to select point guard Kennedy Chandler from Tennessee.

Nonetheless, the Lakers have a lot to look forward to as they assess trade opportunities, work with free agency players and maintain the drive in the other guys on the team. The Lakers future picks in the draft will only make matters even more exciting down the road.
