Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is now in his 21st season and clearly still has a lot to give to the game. Despite being 38-years-old, he has made it known that he wants to play with his oldest son, Bronny.
Bronny finished his senior year at Sierra Canyon High School in 2023 and was a sought-after prospect as he was going to enter his assumingly one-year college career. The 19-year-old would decide to stay local and committed to USC.
While it will only be one year, it will be a year filled with buzz and a ton of media coverage. Bronny shares a similar playstyle as LeBron, being a high IQ player with the ability to make highlights whenever he steps on the court. As college basketball season draws nearer, Bronny was asked about who his favorite basketball player of all-time is and to no surprise, said his father:

There was a dramatic pause before answering the question, but it would have been shocking if it wasn’t LeBron. His father has cemented himself as the best or one of the best to every play the sport, furthering the reason to pick him.
Four games into his 21st year in the league, LeBron is averaging 22 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists on 53% from the field and 30.4% from 3. It is still early, but for him to still be a key and integral part of a championship team is something that hasn’t been seen before. Every year for LeBron is a championship year and the 2023-24 season is no different.
However, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham still has to manage his minutes accordingly to make sure he is ready for postseason play. But, the four-time champion has proven he is able to play high minutes regardless of age, as he played 39 minutes in an overtime game against the Sacramento Kings and 33 minutes the following night against the Orlando Magic.
Bronny will presumably be in the 2024 NBA Draft class, making LeBron’s wish of playing alongside his son coming closer to fruition. It’ll be interesting to see how that situation pans out, in terms of what team drafts Bronny and if LeBron forces his way to whatever team he is on.
James dedicates season to Bronny
Bronny went through a health scare during the summer, suffering cardiac arrest, but luckily seems to be recovering and in good spirits. It must’ve been a stressful time for the James family, but LeBron is happy to see his son healthy and dedicated the 2023-24 season to him.
