Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic spent the offseason getting into the best shape of his life, and it has resulted into one of his best seasons to date as he currently leads the NBA in scoring during the 2025-26 season.
Doncic has an array of offensive moves, including his patented step back 3-pointer that he always somehow finds ways to get off. Besides his outside shooting, Luka is also a master at using his craftiness dribble to get into the paint where he can finish in a variety of ways or uses the extra defensive attention to whip lobs and passes to teammates.
While Doncic is a scoring machine, his athleticism is very rarely brought up as the Lakers star isn’t known to be a speedster or high-fly act. Doncic’s Lakers teammates like Jaxson Hayes, however, are known to be athletic freaks as evidenced by the between-the-legs dunk he threw down in the win against the Chicago Bulls.
Jake LaRavia was asked if he’s seen another player throw down a dunk in-game like Hayes’ before and he named Obi Toppin as the only other player he thinks can do it. Doncic was nearby and quickly chimed in that he has video proof of him performing the same dunk as a teenager, via NBA on Prime:
Luka knew the receipts were there for his Eastbay dunk at age 13 🤣🧾

In the clip, a much younger-looking Doncic takes off from the sidelines and does manage to get the ball between his legs before throwing down the dunk. Luka has never accomplished the feat in the NBA, but it’s still impressive to see him get up near the rim on the attempt.
It would be a major surprise if Doncic was ever able to do that in a game, but he has shown a little more explosiveness this season when getting to the rim. Doncic’s game isn’t predicated on his athleticism, but he’s still able to get to his spots which is more important.
Luka is an offensive wizard that doesn’t need to be out jump opponents to put points on the board, and the Lakers should have no problem with that given how effective he is offensively.
LeBron James sees Luka Doncic getting more comfortable
When Doncic was traded to the Lakers, it was a massive change to the star both on and off the floor. However, in his first full season in Los Angeles, Doncic resembles the player he’s become known for and LeBron James believes it’s because he’s getting more comfortable.
