Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic was named Western Conference Player of the Week for March 16-22, it was announced by the NBA. LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets took home honors in the Eastern Conference.

Doncic led the Lakers to a 4-0 record while averaging 42.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 3.0 steals on 50% shooting from the field and 37.3% from 3-point range in the past week.

Things started strong for Doncic with 36 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in the Lakers’ 100-92 victory over the Houston Rockets. Two days later, the Lakers had a rematch with the Rockets and Luka was even better, finishing with 40 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists in another eight-point win in Houston.

Then came arguably his best performance of the season as Doncic dropped 60 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and five steals in the Lakers’ 134-126 victory over the Miami Heat. The performance was even more impressive when remembering that the Lakers were on the second night of a back-to-back, arriving in Miami at 5 a.m. local time with Luka being listed as questionable for the contest earlier in the day.

Doncic then capped his week off with 33 points, five rebounds, eight assists and four steals in the Lakers’ thrilling victory over the Orlando Magic.

This is the fourth time this season that Luka has been named Player of the Week, the most of any player in the league and the second consecutive week he has received this honor, as well as the 18th time he has received a weekly award in his career. He was also named NBA Player of the Month for January and very well could be in line for that award once again in March.

Doncic could look for a three-peat this week as the Lakers end their road trip with games against the Detroit Pistons on Monday and Indiana Pacers on Wednesday before finally returning home to host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

NBA rescinds 16th technical foul on Lakers star Luka Doncic

Thankfully for Doncic and the Lakers, he will be available to play against the Pistons as the NBA rescinded the technical foul he picked up in the Lakers win over the Magic. Doncic and Magic big man Goga Bitadze were jawing back and forth in Serbian, leading to double technicals, which would have been Luka’s 16th of the year, drawing him a one-game suspension.

What was said between the two has been disputed, but the Lakers appealed to the league in order to get the technical rescinded and the NBA agreed, though Doncic is still just one more technical away from that suspension.
