With the 2026 NBA Draft approaching, the Los Angeles Lakers are hard at work in identifying potential young players who could be proper fits on the team. The Lakers only have one pick in the draft right now, their first round pick at 25th overall, but the team could always acquire other picks, or find intriguing players who went undrafted.
As such, the Lakers will be bringing in different players who are projected to go in different areas of the draft, even if they don’t have a pick in that range. And one player the team is bringing in for a pre-draft workout is Villanova center Duke Brennan, via Vince Wolfram of The College Sports Company:
Add the Los Angeles Lakers to the list of NBA pre-draft workouts for Villanova big man Duke Brennan.
Per @OG6_SM, Brennan is scheduled to go through an official workout with LAL on Tuesday. https://t.co/UKA4tvRuRX

Brennan does fit the mold of the type of center the Lakers are eyeing that fits alongside superstar Luka Doncic. He is a high energy big man who finishes well around the basket and is an excellent rebounder. He tied a school record with 14 double-doubles in his senior season. Brennan especially shines on the offensive glass as he averaged 4.1 per game and had just one contest all season in which he didn’t grab at least two.
Brennan is currently projected to be a second-round pick or perhaps go undrafted, so this could be a case of the Lakers looking at someone they could target immediately after the draft if he isn’t selected. Or if they are insistent on taking him, perhaps they could acquire a second-round pick.
Listed at 6’10 and 235 pounds, Brennan has some very intriguing tools that could be developed at the next level and if the workout goes well, the Lakers could make it a priority to figure out a way to get him to the purple and gold. As a senior with the Wildcats Brennan averaged 12.4 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 65.8% from the field.
Robert Williams III viewed as potential Lakers target in free agency
Of course, the Lakers could also look to improve the center position in free agency and one name that is emerging as a potential target there is Robert Williams III, who is coming off a strong season with the Portland Trail Blazers but also has a concerning injury history.
