The Los Angeles Lakers announced that forward Adou Thiero has been ruled out of Monday night’s California Classic Summer League game against the San Antonio Spurs with a right wrist injury. Thiero was originally listed in the starting lineup but was not on the court for the opening tip, later joining his teammates in a hoodie.

Chris Mañon stepped into the starting lineup to take Thiero’s place in L.A.’s third and final California Classic game.

It’s unclear when Thiero suffered the injury or how severe it is, but the hope is that he will be back in action when the Lakers take the court for the Las Vegas Summer League on Friday night. The Lakers will play five games in a 10-day span in Las Vegas.

The second-year forward out of Arkansas suited up in the Lakers’ first two games this summer and averaged 11 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.5 steals in around 23 minutes per game. He struggled in the first game against the Golden State Warriors but bounced back with a solid performance in the double overtime win over the Miami Heat.

If Thiero is not feeling 100% healthy then the Lakers likely would not risk playing him in Summer League action, although that remains to be seen.

Adou Thiero discusses summer plans

This is a big summer for Thiero as he looks to develop into an NBA rotation players. He missed all of Summer League, preseason and a good portion of the regular season last year due to injuries, but he went into this offseason healthy and discussed what aspects of his game he plans on working on.

“Getting my shot a lot more consistent,” Thiero said when asked what this offseason will look like for him. “Just getting the confidence to take the open shot when it’s there and just keep building on my offensive game, try to get more comfortable with the speed of the NBA. I feel like a couple more reps would do that some good, but just trying to make myself a little bit more ready for the next season to try to be a little bit more of an impact player for the team.”
