There is no denying that LeBron James is one of the biggest and most popular athletes in the world today. The former Los Angeles Lakers superstar has a massive fanbase and that includes many other of the best athletes across all sports, one of whom is Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua.
Nacua has spoken about James being his favorite basketball player, but of course James has now signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. And while Nacua remains a fan of James, he still is a Lakers fan and hopes to attend games in his Luka Doncic jersey this season.
“I think so, 100%,” Nacua told reporters at Rams training camp when asked if he would attend Lakers games. “I do have a Luka Doncic jersey so I’m here. Sadly, I’m definitely not flying out to Philly to make any of those games, but I did see him out in New York and I told them that I know we got a lot of tight ends and we’re running 13 personnel so if he ever wants to hang up the jersey we got some cleats for him for sure.”
Taking the trip out to Philadelphia is out of the question for Nacua, though James’ return to Crypto.com Arena for the first time this upcoming season will undoubtedly be one of the hottest tickets of the season. The Rams star will likely be in the building on that night.
Regardless, this is a new era for the Lakers with the team building the roster around Doncic by re-signing Austin Reaves to a new contract and bringing in a number of new players such as Walker Kessler, Quentin Grimes and Collin Sexton, among others.
Nacua can remain a James fan, and his offer for the superstar to perhaps lace up some cleats as a tight end for the Rams would bring even more eyes on them as they try and win another Super Bowl. With Myles Garrett on the roster and Aaron Donald contemplating a comeback, maybe that could entice James to return to the gridiron and form the most star-studded team in NFL history.
Luka Doncic to host entire Lakers roster for minicamp in Slovenia
Like Nacua and the Rams, the Lakers are looking to get themselves into championship contention and compete at te highest level. With so many new players on the roster, Doncic will be hosting a four-day minicamp for the entire team in his home country of Slovenia.
