Luka Doncic Describes Lakers As ‘Happy’

The new-look Los Angeles Lakers take the court for the first time when the NBA season begins next month. However, they have already gotten work in together as they try to exceed relatively low expectations. Luka Doncic, the unquestioned leader of this Lakers team, already had the whole roster come to Slovenia for an offseason minicamp.

Those are the kinds of things that help teams develop chemistry — provided it goes well — and that chemistry is what teams lean on during the inevitable down stretches of the 82-game regular season. It seems to have worked though, as Doncic was given one word to describe the Lakers and was very positive in his response, via the Lakers:

Describe this team in one word:

“Happy.”

The Lakers genuinely seemed to enjoy their time together in Slovenia. They did all sorts of activities as a team, including dinners, a workout, riding bikes through Ljubljana and more, and it was the perfect thing to bond a team that has never played a game together.

Coming into the season with this type of chemistry is something Lakers fans haven’t seen from the purple and gold since the 2019-20 championship team. That roster — despite also being brand new — seemed to have a genuine love for one another right away, and it showed up in the way they played together.

Hopefully, this team exhibits a similar chemistry, as the franchise is hoping that this is the team that leads them back to the top of the NBA landscape.

Bronny James senses good vibes around roster

Doncic is not the only one feeling good about where things are at with the new-look Lakers. Bronny James, who was also on the team’s Slovenia trip, had similar things to say when given more than one word to talk about it.

“Everyone’s great,” James said in an interview on ESPN LA. “We’ve been in the gym working. It’s good vibes everywhere. I think that, again, the Slovenia trip helped because we got back home, we got to work and it’s coming around.”

James is one of the players that will be most interesting to watch on this roster this season. He has a skillset that the Lakers really need, but also has previously lacked in some other areas. The team’s great chemistry could allow for everyone to be at their best when the season begins, and James could have a chance to shine if given the opportunity.

Ron's all time favorite Lakers moment was Bryant's final game when he dropped 60 points. While the Lakers beating the Celtics in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, as Metta World Peace hit the game clinching three, will always be a top option, Bryant's final night takes the cake.
