Vegas Believes the Miami Heat Will be 2011-12 Champions

With the NBA’s 2011-12 season rapidly approaching, people have already began to place their bets for the Finals. As reported by the Los Angeles Times’ Mark Medina, Las Vegas oddmakers believe the men down in South Beach will bring home the 2012 NBA championship.

MGM Mirage’s race and sports director Jay Rood has the Heat as a 2-1 favorite, followed by the Los Angeles Lakers at 9-to-2 and the Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder at 5-to-1.

As for Jay Kornegay, director of the Las Vegas Hilton Race and Sports Book, he also has the Heat as 2-to-1 favorites, followed by the Bulls at 6-to-1 and the  Lakers  in a third-place tie with the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder at 7-to-1.

The Heat were also the favorites last season, but as we all know, the Mavs shocked the world and silenced the Big Three. These Las Vegas picks do not mean much in the long-run, all they do it add more pressure to the favorite.
