Mike Brown Does Not Regret Benching Kobe Bryant

Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, the sports world exploded since Lakers coach Mike Brown decided to bench Kobe Bryant for the majority of the fourth quarter. Brown had Kobe resting on the bench in the latter half of the period and inserted him back into the game with less than two minutes to play.

Brown was lambasted by the fans and the media for not having Kobe in the game. However, Bryant went about his reaction in a professional manner and when asked if Brown regretted his decision, he essentially said no, Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Times writes.

“I just said I felt like I needed to make a sub, so I made a sub,” Brown said.

The Lakers ended up losing the game 102-96, but the loss was no doubt the second story. Although benching Kobe Bryant in the fourth quarter of one game is no big deal, this occurring again will surely raise some eyebrows.
