NBA News: Andrew Bynum Will Undergo “Kobe” Treatment

The Los Angeles Lakers traded away Andrew Bynum to the Philadelphia 76ers, saying goodbye to the center that they molded into one of the best in the NBA. The Lakers got Dwight Howard in return, but the franchise will not forget what Bynum did for them while with the team.

Bynum was drafted as a 17-year-old and the Lakers understood his upside was at a level not many players could match. Bynum learned from the legendary Phil Jackson and one of the greatest players of all-time, Kobe Bryant. Kobe is still in the NBA and has not lost his step on the court. A lot of that is credited to his work ethic, but also the knee procedures in Germany.

The results were quite astonishing and Bynum saw first hand just how much better Bryant got. In fact, the Philadelphia Inquirer says sources claim that Bynum is ready to undergo the same procedure in Germany and hopefully see the same results as Bryant did.

According to the source, Bynum is not feeling any pain in his knees. However, the center wants to explore any options that will help to prolong the healthy status of his knees. According to the source, Bynum was so impressed with the results that Bryant experienced last season that he agreed that exploring the procedure was a viable option.

Bynum faced several injuries with the Lakers and was given the infamous tag of “injury prone.” Still, Bynum managed to help the Lakers win two consecutive titles and his 2011-12 season was perhaps his most healthy campaign of his career.

The Sixers will be getting a very talented center with Bynum and he will surely help them reach greater heights. The Atlantic Division is getting increasingly competitive and the Sixers have emerged as a team that can challenge the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.
