NBA News: Doug Collins Has No Concerns About Bynum’s Maturity

With every young NBA star, there is always questions about his maturity. Many people did not think Kobe Bryant could become a more mature player during the early stages in his career, but Bryant eventually adopted the correct mentality.

Former Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum had to constantly deal with the media and questions about his maturity. Bynum is now in Philadelphia and even though there were times when Bynum embarrassed the Lakers last season, the Sixers aren’t worried about his professionalism.

Sixers coach Doug Collins told the Philadelphia Daily News that he believes 100 percent in his newest center. Collins does not believe that maturity will be a problem in the 2012-13 season for Andrew Bynum.

I have zero concern. One thing is I never judge a man from a distance. Sometimes people want to pull out one or two things . . . but you could pull out things on all the great players in the NBA. Andrew is an incredibly well-spoken young guy. He’s articulate, he’s bright, he’s smart and he knows the game.

Collins went on to say that he believes this will be a career changing move for Bynum. For the first time Bynum will be an offense’s main target and he will be the leader of this Sixers team. The Lakers developed Bynum into the second best center in the NBA and now it is time for him to prove his worth.

There were many games last season when Bynum impressed the NBA world with his play. He developed a solid offense game and he was improving on the defensive end. With Andrew Bynum in the middle, the Sixers will make some splash in the Eastern Conference this upcoming season.
