Lakers Nation Week In Review: Feb. 16 – Feb. 23

NBA: Brooklyn Nets at Los Angeles LakersThe Los Angeles Lakers returned from the All-Star break with a two game week and they went 2-0 in those matches. However, the Lakers’ recent success was overshadowed by the death of the late great Jerry Buss.

The entire Lakers community was saddened by Buss’ passing and he left a positive impact on everyone he came in contact with. After such a joyful environment around the All-Star Weekend, it was unfortunate to have such devastating news surround the Lakers.

It was a week full of tragedy for Los Angeles and here is a look back at the past seven days.

Lakers Nation Game Recaps:

The Lakers played their first game after the All-Star break against the arch rivals, the Boston Celtics. It was the first time the team suited up since the passing of Dr. Buss and the team played inspired basketball for their late owner. The Lakers dominated the Celtics from the opening tip and walked off victors.

Los Angeles finished the week Friday night when it hosted the Portland Trail Blazers. The Lakers and Blazers are both fighting for a playoff spot in Western Conference, and luckily, the Lakers were able to oust their conference foes. Bryant scored 40 points for the team and Los Angeles won 111-107.

Jerry Buss was laid to rest on Friday morning.

Kobe Bryant believes the Lakers will make the playoffs. 

Steve Nash passed Magic Johnson on the NBA all-time career assist list with 10,142 assists.

Metta World Peace was awakened by cops in front of his home. 

The Lakers will wear a “JB” patch on their jerseys.

Dwight Howard denies that he is not happy in Los Angeles. 

Howard reportedly mocked Kobe Bryant while in Houston.

The Buss family intends to keep the Lakers franchise. 

Kobe Bryant says he’ll be back in the All-Star game.
