Kobe Bryant Not Paying Attention to Miami Heat’s Streak

NBA: All Star GameThe Miami Heat are currently riding a 23 game winning streak, the second longest stretch in NBA history. The Heat were back on the court Monday night for a game against the Boston Celtics, and a win that put the team one step closer to the record.

The 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers hold the NBA record for most consecutive victories at 33, and many people are beginning to wonder if the Heat can get to 34 wins. ESPN reports that in an informal poll of league executives, coaches and scouts, 32 of the 44 responders said they do not believe this Heat team can break the NBA record.

ESPN also asked Lakers star Kobe Bryant what he thought of Miami’s streak and whether or not it can make NBA history.

Kobe Bryant, who is nursing a sprained ankle while his Lakers make their push for a Western Conference playoff berth, said he couldn’t care less about Miami’s winning ways. When asked in a text whether he thinks the Heat will break the Lakers’ record, he responded: “Did you really ask me that?? Lol”

Bryant is clearly not interested in how Miami is performing as he is more concerned about the current state of his Lakers. The Lakers and Heat will not meet again in the regular season, meaning the only possible matchup will be in the NBA Finals.
