Lakers News: Team Still 20-1 Odds to Win NBA Championship

Even though the Lakers have struggled mightily this season, the latest gaffe being a loss to the Washington Wizards at home after blowing an 18-point lead, the team is still receiving (somewhat) favorable odds to win the championship.

According to SportsBook.com, the Lakers are 20-1 odds to be the team holding the Larry O’Brien trophy in June.

Perhaps the most surprising thing is that the Lakers are getting better odds than the Pacers and Grizzlies, two teams that have better records than Los Angeles.

So are the Lakers getting ranked too high in these odds? They’re just 36-34 and are in third place in their own division. Indiana is 43-27 and in third place in the Eastern Conference, while Memphis is 47-22 and 11.5 games ahead of the Lakers.

It could be the fact that oddsmakers are still worried the Lakers might pull things together in the playoffs, but for now that’s appearing increasingly unlikely.

While ultimately odds to win are still just odds to win, it seems that the struggling Lakers might be a tad overrated in the eyes of the oddsmakers.
