Lakers News: Staples Center Ranked Second-Best Arena in the NBA

staples_headerThe Los Angeles Lakers have had a tremendous amount of success since moving into Staples Center in 1999. Five championship banners have been raised into the rafters at Staples, and there has been countless amazing moments in purple and gold.

Stadium Journey recently released their ranking of the best arenas in the NBA, and Staples Center came in at number two. Stadium Journey ranks factors including food and beverage in the arena, overall atmosphere, the neighborhood, the fans, access, return on investment and an “extras” category for any unique or bonus points.

Home of the Lakers, Clippers, Kings and Sparks, Staples generates a massive amount of interest and appeal to the sports world and its fans all year round. Stadium Journey writes:

“In recent years, the Staples Center has seemingly become the basketball capital of the world. With its futuristic look and cascading lights atop the arena, the venue has become one of the most identifiable in all of sports.

Opened in 1999, the Lakers would gain even more of a Los Angeles identity, moving to the downtown Staples Center, a venue which has acted as the keystone of the downtown revitalization.”

The creation and development of L.A. Live only adds to the area’s attraction and achieves the late and great Dr. Jerry Buss’ goal and vision to make the Lakers a center point of entertainment that gives the fan the ultimate experience.

The San Antonio Spurs’ AT&T Center was the only NBA arena to rank higher than the Lakers’ home, which only adds insult to the recent series sweep by the Spurs. However, nobody can deny the entertainment, appeal and experience Staples Center offers to the fans.
