Lakers News: Dwight Howard to Make Free Agent Decision Friday

The Los Angeles Lakers might not have to wait long for Dwight Howard’s decision after their meeting on Tuesday.

Reportedly, Dwight will be ready to announce his free-agent decision on Friday according to NBA Insider Peter Vecsey via Twitter:

Following the meetings with the Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks, Dwight took one final meeting with the Lakers on Tuesday. The Lakers once again attempted to make one last pitch to the perennial All-Star in order to get him to sign a five-year contract extension on July 10.

The meeting included Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Mitch Kupchak, Mike D’Antoni and Jim Buss. Although Nash indicated the meeting having a positive outcome, no decision or any indication was given by Dwight in terms of his long-term plans.

Despite the uncertainty moving forward, Dwight giving the Lakers and all other teams involved will only help this nightmare scenario come to an end. The Rockets still appear to be the clear favorite in the sweepstakes to land Dwight on Friday, but the star center’s infamous indecisiveness may have him ultimately deciding to return to Los Angeles or heading to one of the three other teams that met with him.
