NBA News: Darius Morris Signs Partially Guaranteed Deal With 76ers

ts_120702dariusmorris670The Los Angeles Lakers 2011 second round draft pick, Darius Morris, has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia 76ers on a partially guaranteed deal for the 2013-14, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Los Angeles Lakers free-agent guard Darius Morris is finalizing an agreement with the Philadelphia 76ers, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Morris, 22, will sign a partially guaranteed contract for the 2013-14 season, but is expected to make the 76ers’ roster and play meaningful backcourt minutes this season.

Morris was offered a spot on the Lakers Summer League team again this year, and would have been a camp invite, but he turned down the deal to look for a more permanent role with the team.

Morris, 6-foot-4, struggled to find his way into the Lakers rotation with a deep, minute eating backcourt. He often struggled with the pace of the game and taking care of the ball. Toward the end of last season, Morris began realizing that he didn’t have to play at top speed at all times and looked a bit better running the offense.

In Philadelphia, he’ll be competing for minutes with rookie Michael Carter-Williams and free-agent pick up Tony Wroten.

Morris averaged four points and 1.6 assists in just over 14 minutes per game in his last season with the Lakers.
